Treat yourself to a two days creative retreat on the scenic island of Ærø in June 2026.
Slow down, breathe in, and feel the magic and tranquility of immersing yourself in
the fascinating world of botany and colors.
At the old farm Gravendal, we will explore the nature that lies right outside the
door. You will learn to create your own unique botanical prints while enjoying
delicious food prepared from local, natural ingredients.

During your stay, you will be introduced to the plant printing techniques Hapa
Zome and monotype, which both can be used on paper and textiles.
We will collect fresh plants from the surrounding landscape and use them in our
printing process. In Hapa Zome, we use the natural pigments of the plants
themselves, while in monotype printing, we use print colors and gel plates to
create beautiful, layered botanical compositions.
By the end of the retreat, you´ll have the skills and confidence to continue
exploring these techniques at home.
No prior experience is needed - everyone is welcome!
The retreat is hosted by Mette Meldgaard og Pernille Folcarelli and includes:
- 2 nights of accommodation
- Full board with all meals, beverages, and snacks
- Workshops and all materials
Price per person in a shared double room DKK 3.900 / € 525 all inclusive
Price per person in a single room DKK 4.900 / € 655 all inclusive

About Mette Meldgaard:
Mette was born, raised, and trained in the service industry. Originally from the flat and
windy region of Central Jutland, she moved to Ærø during the pandemic. Here, she has
created a space where like-minded people can come together in the heart of nature.
Mette organizes all sorts of food events with wild, fresh ingredients. The wilder, the better.

About Pernille Folcarelli:
Pernille is a trained designer and has run her own studio since 2013, working with botanical art, design, and teaching. As a designer and artist, she has always been inspired and fascinated by the motifs of nature, which have been the focal point of her work. Pernille is deeply passionate about the sense of calm and mental balance that comes from engaging with art, craftsmanship, and nature.
“I believe that in our hectic world, we need natural and peaceful breathing spaces more
than ever before. We long for experiences that open our eyes to the grandeur and
beauty of nature. And many people long to work with their hands as a break from all the
screens. Experiencing how the excitement over the details of botany unfolds when the
participants start collecting plants and create images and artworks is a huge joy every
time it happens.”

Food is by far the best I've ever eaten, perfect wine, interesting and kind people, high
quality workshop, comfortable bedrooms and a heavenly location”

”I really enjoyed the retreat time together with you and the group. It was my first time
doing a workshop like this and it was great!
The time for working and being around together was good and I loved to have a little
space for myself and that was possibel, too. So it was a really good experience for me.”
Ines from Germany
”It was really a very harmonious group and wonderful, relaxing and inspiring days in a
place full of positive energy.
All I can say is that we didn´t miss anything and I couldn´t say a point that should be
improved. For us it was perfect.”
